Stinky Westie

I love mud

Another wet day and a stinky dog again. The constant wet is helping the bacteria that feed on the oils produced by Ben's skin multiply causing him to stink a bit. He gets dried down with a micro fibre towel  when he gets to the car and another towelling down when he gets home. As westies are prone to eczema I like to groom him daily to remove dirt but do not want to bathe him too often. If he is too bad I use a mixture of baby powder and corn starch rubbed into his fur then brushed out to dry clean him.

Took a walk in Ilkley

Took a drive over to Ilkley. The weather was fine when we started off but it soon deteriorated.  Not to be put off by a bit of rain we decided to do the circular walk. The rain turned from a drizzle to a full downpour  which lasted the entire walk. Ben was not too bothered, he loves nothing more than running through puddles and rolling in mud.

Leeds Liverpool Canal Walk

Went for a walk on the Leeds Liverpool canal. Ben was curious about the swans but they wanted him to keep his distance.

Being a little slow in the thinking department it took a lot of hissing and flapping of wings for him to get the message they were not his friends.

These canal  locks have plenty of odd smells you do not get in the local park.

This swan took a dislike to Ben and tried its best to have a go at him whenever it could

Time for a hasty retreat.

Went to visit a departed relative today. Its quiet here, not as many smells or squirrels to chase.

Second thoughts think I will make a run for it .

Ok I will slow down >  slow coach.

Letter to Santa

 Dear pawfriend 
                      I thought I would write to you this year as I failed to get what I wanted last year. I have been a relatively good dog this year apart from the time I took my masters lunch out of his work bag and ate it. Well he shouldn't have left it on the floor, I am weak when it come to food.
Top of my list is to get some of that turkey on Christmas day. My owners keep telling me it is too rich for me but why should I only get poor food. Next on my list is a big pile of gooey mess in the back yard for me to roll in, the smellier the better. Now and again I do find some on my walks and get to roll in it which always seems to excite my owner but I would like my very own so I can roll at my own leisure. Next on my list is, *can you please make me a little faster so I can catch that squirrel in the park. It seems like it has been tormenting me forever, keeps popping up from behind every tree. No sooner have I chased it up one tree it pops out from behind another. How does it do that ? Again in the park, * any chance I can get it on with that hot Westie Milly I see in the park every day, I know she would like a bit of Ben loving. My next present is to have some of the tasty morsels I find littered around the park delivered every day. I think it is squirrel's poop and tastes very good. My owners tries to stop me eating it and shouts disgusting but what is the difference between that and Kopi Luwak coffee beans pooped out by an Indonesian animal.

Please say sorry to your reindeer for barking at them last year, I don't know what came over me.

Walk in the park

Nice walk in the park

Groomer let down

Booked ben into the groomers for today over 8 weeks ago and they have let me down. The groomer said I was the only booking for today so it was not worth opening up just for me. So much for customer service, l was hoping for him to look at his best for Christmas day but I guess thats not to be.

Pet Insurance

Just got my pet insurance renewal for Ben from More th>n and it has jumped up to £440 per year. I have just been on their website for a new quote with exact same details and was quoted £224.88. That's a saving of over £200 how can they justify that. The only problem with the new quote is the disclaimer it comes with

> "This new policy will not cover anything that is caused by, relates to or results from an illness, injury or clinical signs your pet had before the new policy starts or the costs of treating an illness that shows clinical signs in the first 14 days of the date the new policy starts."

This basically means they can weasel out of any claim I make for any illness due to some obscure illness he may have had or potentially could get.

Its time the FSA looked into this and got a fairer deal for all.

This was ben as a young pup. As you can see he liked all the comforts of home.
